Back to School: 5 Easy Weeknight Dinners Elevated with Black Garlic

Getting Dinner on the Table Doesn't Have to Mean Sacrificing Flavour

New school shoes, forgotten PE kits, homework at the kitchen table, back-to-school season has a way of eating into your evenings before dinner's even started. The last thing anyone needs is a complicated recipe.

The good news: you don't need more time in the kitchen to get more flavour on the plate. One spoonful of The Original Black Garlic Paste (or a clove or two, mashed) does the work that would otherwise take hours of slow cooking. After all, we've done the time, so you don't have to!

Here are five weeknight staples, elevated in minutes.

1. Speedy Spaghetti Bolognese

Stir a spoonful of The Original Black Garlic Paste into the sauce as it simmers. It melts straight in, deepening the flavour with a rich, almost slow-cooked depth, even if the whole thing was on the table in 25 minutes.

Weeknight win: make a double batch and freeze half for the nights you really can't face cooking.

2. Traybake Chicken Thighs

Toss chicken thighs with a mashed clove of black garlic, olive oil and whatever veg needs using up, then roast. It caramelises beautifully in the oven and turns a basic traybake into something that tastes like it took real effort.

Weeknight win: one tray, one wash-up, dinner sorted.

3. Jacket Potatoes with a Twist

Skip the plain butter. Mash black garlic through soft butter (or crème fraîche) and dollop it onto a jacket potato with cheese, beans, or leftover roast chicken. Five minutes of prep, genuinely elevated flavour.

Weeknight win: microwave the potato if the oven feels like one step too far, the topping does the heavy lifting either way.

4. Stir-Fry, Upgraded

Whatever's in the fridge, chicken, tofu, whatever vegetables need eating, a spoonful of The Original Black Garlic Paste stirred through at the end adds an umami depth that a bottled stir-fry sauce just can't match.

Weeknight win: keep a jar of paste by the hob; it works in almost any stir-fry combination you throw at it.

5. Beans on Toast, Reimagined

The ultimate five-minute dinner, made a little more grown-up. Stir a small spoonful of black garlic into a tin of beans as they heat through, then pile onto toast. Simple, but noticeably better.

Weeknight win: this is the one to keep in your back pocket for the nights when nothing else is happening.

The Real Back-to-School Win

None of these recipes need extra time, extra skill, or an extra trip to the shops. Keep a jar of The Original Black Garlic Paste (or pot of The Original Black Garlic Peeled Cloves) in the kitchen, and turning a rushed weeknight dinner into something that actually tastes good becomes the easy option, not the ambitious one.
